Hey there, tech enthusiasts and lifelong learners! Rob here, and I’m excited to share my recent foray back into the world of continuous education through LinkedIn Learning.

I’ve always believed that learning is a journey, not a destination. This philosophy has brought me back to the virtual classrooms of LinkedIn Learning, and I must say, it’s been an exhilarating ride. After some time away from formal courses, I decided it was time to brush up on my skills and stay ahead in the ever-evolving tech landscape.
So far, I’ve completed several courses that have been both enjoyable and immensely valuable in building upon my existing knowledge, as well as refreshing some areas that were becoming a bit dated. Here’s a glimpse of what I’ve been up to:
- Implementing the NIST Privacy Framework – An insightful course by Ronald Woerner from April 2022. It was a deep dive into privacy best practices, and it was fascinating to see the framework’s practical application.
- Career Essentials in Cybersecurity – This learning path provided by Microsoft and LinkedIn was a comprehensive update on the core competencies required in today’s cybersecurity landscape. Completed and certified with an exam, this course gives you a professional certificate to share with potential employers and colleagues!
- Cybersecurity Awareness: Cybersecurity Terminology – Lauren Zink’s course from September 2022 was like a fresh coat of paint on the walls of my cybersecurity vocabulary. It’s one thing to know the terms, but understanding their nuances in today’s context was the real takeaway.
- ISO 27001:2022-Compliant Cybersecurity: The Annex A Controls – Marc Menninger’s course was another recent completion that helped me understand the intricate controls of ISO 27001:2022. It’s one thing to know the standards, but another to implement them effectively.
- Cybersecurity Foundations – With Malcolm Shore’s guidance from March 2023, I revisited the fundamental concepts of cybersecurity, ensuring my foundations were as solid as ever.
- The Cybersecurity Threat Landscape – Also by Marc Menninger, this June 2022 course gave me a fresh perspective on the current threats in the cyber world, which is crucial for staying proactive in defense strategies.
- ISO 27001:2022-Compliant Cybersecurity: Getting Started – Another gem by Marc Menninger from June 2023, it provided me with actionable insights to kick-start compliance with the latest ISO standards.
Each of these courses has not only added to my skillset but also sparked a renewed passion for the field of cybersecurity. They’ve been relatable, hands-on, and directly applicable to the challenges I tackle in both my personal and professional life.
As I share these experiences, I hope to inspire you to never stop learning and growing. Whether you’re looking to start a new career, enhance your current one, or simply learn something new, platforms like LinkedIn Learning are a goldmine of knowledge waiting to be explored.
I’m looking forward to sharing more about how these courses impact my work and personal projects. Stay tuned for deep dives into specific learnings and how I’m applying new skills in real-world scenarios.
Until next time, keep learning, stay curious, and let’s push the boundaries of what we can achieve with technology!
Best,
Robert R. Herbaugh
